The Moat

--------- , we are just 25 minutes walk from the City of Wells (less than 5 minutes by car). On Wednesday and Saturday there is a farmers market in the square which adds to the atmosphere of this charming city. The magnificent Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace Gardens are open to the Public and are our main places of interest. Take in the history in the Cathedral and allow time to relax and reflect in the Bishop's Palace Gardens. The Palace and Gardens are due to re-open on the 11th February 2012. Perhaps arrive for lunch which is served in the vaulted Undercroft, open from 10.30am until 5.00pm. There are daily guided tours and events throughout the Summer.

Right next door to the Cathedral don't miss the "Vicars Close" which "is claimed to be the oldest purely residential street with its original buildings all surviving intact in Europe.
